Yet Another Blog?.....

Well, it's now officially three days since I created my blog. I thought about posting a review right away, but I wanted to make an introductory post; make myself get used to the whole blogging scene.

So yeah, like it says on my sidebar, I'm completely new to the whole thing. Obviously, my love for reading is the reason why I'm typing this right now. I've already been stalking some pretty awesome blogs for the past months, and then I thought, "Why not start my own?" So I did. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm pretty excited, but at the same time, worried. There's tons- heck, there's thousands of blogs out there- who's to say mine would be noticed? But I'll try not to think about that now. I'll just hope that maybe I'll get lucky and gain some pretty awesome followers.

So what pushed me to post this right now? Last night, I just finished reading this totally amazing book- and I just wanted to talk about it. I'm guessing I'm gonna post my review either later or tomorrow. Depends.

But yeah, I'm a bit nervous... Don't hesitate to show some support! :D Blogging seems a bit intimidating. I found out that creating the blog was the easy part- but fixing it up to make it look good? That was the time when I started to panic. I guess my blog looks (hopefully) decent right now, and if it's a success, then maybe I might improve the designs.

Who knows?

I'm running out of things to ramble about. Everything in short version? I'm new, I'm excited, I'm nervous.... but I want to enjoy blogging and want some people to enjoy it with. Hopefully I'll gain some book-loving friends here as well! I mean, the blog I've been stalking for the past months really inspired me. I might talk about that some other day.

That's it for now. 'Til next time!

Jen

P.S.- Totally shameless advertising: Check back here tomorrow for my first ever review? :)

  1. Hi there Jen! Welcome to the book blogosphere! It's a pleasure to meet you! I'm Demi, and I'm also fairly new to this whole blogging thing. I started my blog in August (not knowing exactly what to blog about) but I've only been active since around mid-September. I figured I'd blog about books since I loved to read and it's one passion I haven't gotten tired of yet.

I agree. It can be very intimidating to start blogging. You get nervous because you don't know if you'll be the only one reading your blog :P And it's also scary to see all these awesome blogs out there with, like, a million subscribers. However, I've found the blogosphere pretty friendly! They'll help you out when you ask~ I suggest going onto your favourite blogs and commenting like crazy! It'll put you and your blog out there. Advertising, I guess. Also, don't sweat it! Just blog about whatever interests you and make sure to do it consistently. When I left my blog alone, I got no views whatsoever. It requires a lot of work to get your blog known. You can start with memes too. It's a long process and I'm slowly inching my way up there! Let's take the journey together yes?

If you have any questions or just want to chat, drop by my blog :)

  2. @Demi- Hey! Thanks for stopping by! I think you're the first person to ever drop by! :P

Thanks for the advice- I'm certainly gonna try them out! And yeah- I just tried my first ever meme! It took me about an hour to work the kinks out of the post, since I haven't really gotten the hang of this yet. :) But I'm learning!

I seriously agree- Blogging is NOT easy! But sure, let's take the journey together! Hopefully it will be fun! :) You're the first friendly face I've met as a blogger

  3. Hi Jen! Welcome to the blogging world ! I can relate completely. I still remember the first time I started blogging many moons ago... I was very nervous as well. Unfortunately I had to leave my blog for personal reasons but I just got back! Some of my old blogging friends gave me a few tips when I told them I wanted to get back to blogging... they told me to get involved as much as I could, participate in memes and other activities, comment comment comment, follow new blogs, share your posts on other networking sites, online book clubs, facebook, twitter, etc.. that should help start you up!

Good luck with your new blog! Remember, it's about having fun and expressing yourself, so don't sweat it. There are a lot of kind people around the blogosphere and I am sure they will welcome you warmly like they did me on my very first blogging journey. I will see you around! :) Enjoy! xx

  4. @Hilda- Yes, I so totally agree! Blogging is a lot of work, and a huge time suck! But it's worth it, I think. :)

It's good you're blogging again, I read some of your posts, and they were funny! Thanks for the advice though, I'll keep them in mind! (And thanks for being my first follower! :D) But yeah, it looks like I'm going to enjoy this!

  7. Welcome to the book blogging community!
I wish I could give you some awe-inspiring words here, but sadly I suck at that kind of thing. :) I have found that the past year that I've been blogging has really been amazing, and I couldn't ask for a better group of people. I've definitely made some friends for life through my blog. At times it does seem like why do I bother with it at all, but then I realize it's because I enjoy it..being able to obsess over books with others who share that same passion.

I'm not full of a whole lot of wisdom like some of the others are, but I do know that it takes time just put yourself out there. I found that doing a few Memes (like Waiting on Wed, Follow Friday, and Top 10 tuesday, and In my mailbox.) are awesome ways to show off your blog and connect with others. This is turning into a lecture here. Just have fun, and enjoy!

  8. @Ashley-Hey! :) lol, you might night believe it, but your comment WAS awe- inspiring! I'm having fun so far... the only thing which I hate about blogging is the formatting. It sometimes takes hours to get the format right! And then there's the time suck.

But aside from that, everything's good. :D And yeah, memes are fun! And so is obsessing over books!

Thanks for stopping by and for the words of wisdom! :P

  9. lol. Then my work here is done. :) Just kidding. Yeah, I agree formatting is hard in all aspects of it. The layout, the reviews, everything. Things will keep a little easier as time goes on. Heck, I still have a hard time figuring out how to write my reviews. I don't think a one of my reviews is written the same as another. I know some bloggers to one way of doing things. I can't do that. I type what I feel no outline necessary.

If you ever have any questions feel free to ask on my site or email me. I'd be glad to help if I can.

Now I'll leave you're commenting thing in peace. :)

  10. Heh, amen to that! I dunno why, but I like putting pics and links in my posts. Which of course, is a time suck in editing. But yeah, hopefully things will become easier.

And thanks, I'll definitely ask for help if I hit a rough spot!

Don't just sit there with your mouth hanging open. Flies will get in. Why don't you leave a comment instead and allow me to get a peek of those thoughts running in that brain of yours?
