Okay, so I've recently just tried buying these books from Amazon. And yeah, it was sort of a fail, hence the post title.

It was the very first time I had tried ordering from Amazon. And not just Amazon itself- but the marketplace too. They look okay, right? But one of them? Eh, not so much...

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer: GoodReads | Amazon

I've been dying for both of these books, so I couldn't resist! I got The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer from the marketplace for a pretty good price, so I'm pretty happy about that. And I'm really excited to read Masque of the Red Death too- I mean, look at that creepy cover! :D

Aaand this is where things went bad. You see, I love Holly Black, so I just had to buy her books. I got Red Glove from the marketplace, and it's in perfect condition. But White Cat? 

The good side: Got it for a dollar. 

The bad side: The book was totally dead. 

Look:

I was sooo freaking pissed! I think the seller even claimed it was in good condition or something, so that's why I chose it! But noo, there's writing all over the edges, and the cover's bent. Up until then, I didn't even know it was possible to destroy a hardbound book! But yeah, after this experience, I've certainly grown wary of Amazon Marketplace. :/ 

So yeah, that's my haul for the week, and my epic fail in online shopping. What about you? Any new books? Any epic fails when shopping online? And who knows, ten years from now, we'll all look back at this experience and laugh at it. Hopefully. :P

This week, my quote comes from...

Okay, the Curse Workers is one of my favorite series, ever! Its seriously brilliant, and it mixes magic with the real world. Now my quote below is really bittersweet, but I don't think those who haven't read the series yet can relate. But if you had... well, just get your heart crushed all over again.

I watch her go. Watch the shadow of her steps and her straight back and the gleam of her hair. 

I remind myself that this is what I wanted. When that doesn't work, I tell myself that I can survive on memories. The smell of Lila's skin, the way her eyes shine with mischief, the low rasp of her voice. It hurts to think of her, but I can't stop. It ought to hurt. 

After all, hell is supposed to be hot.

Why, why did you have to end Red Glove right there, Holly Black? Now I really really want to read Black Heart right now!

Waiting on Wednesday #5- Black Heart by Holly Black

Cassel Sharpe knows he’s been used as an assassin, but he’s trying to put all that behind him. I am sooo excited for this book to come out! I LOVE the Curse Workers series! Its the one of the best darkest fantasies out there! I need this book now! I need to know what happens to Cassel and Lila, and now that I've read the summary, the mystery and tension just piles up!

On a side note...

WHY OH WHY DID THEY CHANGE THE COVER! Seriously, publishers should not do this on the last book of the series! Books with non-matching covers suck! And look- the original cover is WAY prettier yet more appropriate for this series!

Hmph. I am not happy with this. But in spite of my cover griping, I still can't wait to read it!
