Why I Love Floppy From the Iron Fey Series

I bet none of you chose Floppy, did you? ;) But hey, I believe that Floppy is seriously under appreciated. So here's why I love Floppy:

1. Floppy is a stuffed bunny. What's not to love about that?

2. Floppy keeps Ethan company, and is a good friend to him.

 

3. His name. Come on, the name's adorable, just like he is! :)

4. He is the shortest-lived character ever. He only makes it until chapter 3 before biting the dust.

R.I.P. FLOPPY

5. Floppy can talk to you in your dreams. Now do you know any other stuffed toy that can do that?

6. Floppy remembers your birthday. Who needs Facebook to remind you when you have Floppy?

7. Floppy can protect you. He's a fey in glamour and can see things normal stuffed rabbits can't see.

8. Floppy warned Ethan about the man in the closet, probably ensuring Ethan's survival. Without him doing that, Ethan might have been hurt (or killed) by the bowler hat man. Then we wouldn't have this now, would we? 

See my point here? ;)

And that is why Floppy is awesome, and why I love him.  I mean yeah, I also love Ash, Grim, Puck, Meghan, Ironhorse, and the whole bunch, but come on- who else would pick Floppy? :)

I'm pretty excited to read Twisted and Unraveled, since I pretty much love all Harlequin Teen books, and these are supposedly awesome. I also can't wait to read the new version of Farsighted- it has an extended ending!

So for this week's quote, I got it from The Iron Queen, the third book in the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. Now, I dunno with you guys, but I freaking adore this series Need proof? Here's my 5 star review of The Iron King, 6 star review of the Iron Queen, and 6 star review of The Iron Knight.

So here's my quote:

*melts into a puddle of goo* I love this quote of Ash. So utterly sweet. So heartbreaking. But the best part? He manages to fulfill his promise. Not kidding- her literally went to the ends of the Earth. For Meghan. Seriously, you MUST read this if you haven't yet.

The Iron Fey #4- The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa: Review

Ash, former prince of the Winter Court, gave up everything. His title, his home, even his vow of loyalty. All for a girl… and all for nothing.

To cold, emotionless faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.

Then Meghan Chase—a half human, half fey slip of a girl— smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.

With the (unwelcome) company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end— a quest to find a way to honor his solemn vow to stand by Meghan’s side.

I am so thankful that Julie Kagawa wrote this book. And for her editor for convincing her to. C'mon, if things ended at The Iron Queen? I would have been devastated!

The Iron Knight started off slowly with Prince Ash, devastated over Meghan. And so he does something that many other fey have done but never succeeded: he wants to earn a soul, so he can be with Meghan in the Iron Realm. 

I LOVED Ash. I loved his devotion and love for Meghan. How he never stopped fighting for their love, and he never gave up on finding a way to be with her. He pushed himself to the extreme, all because of his love for her. If that isn't love, I don't know what is!

And damn, does Kagawa know how to write a thrilling plot or what? Things picked up very quickly once Ash began his journey to the End of The World. It the adventure of the journey that I've grown to love in this series. But that wasn't the best part. 

I loved the gauntlet. The tests they went through were brilliant. But what I loved the most was the last quarter of the book. The part where Ash goes through three tests to earn his soul. They were heartbreaking- seeing him like that, but knowing that he wouldn't ever give up. And the last test? It was a-ma-zing! I actually thought it was reality- but was the ending totally crushing! You just have to read it for yourself. I know I'm not making much sense, because I'm having a hard time putting my thoughts into words!

The Rating

6 stars!!! It was the perfect conclusion to an epic series. I'm not usually a sucker for really happy endings, but I loved how Kagawa ended the Iron Fey. The ending was sweet and simple, and I adored it. I actually tried putting off reading this book, because I didn't want then series to end!

My only complain? Puck was all alone! Seriously, I felt so bad for him! But anyway, in spite of that, The Iron Fey series is something nobody should miss out on. Go read it. Now.

The Iron Fey #3- The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa: Review

Oh. My. Gosh. I'm speechless. This book was just... Ugh, I can't find the proper words! But in three words? I. LOVED. THIS. So so so soooooo much! I would have had reviewed The Iron Daughter, but I didn't want to stop reading, and I plowed straight through The Iron Queen. It did NOT disappoint. 

The Awesome

Everything. I read The Iron King, and I loved it. I read the Iron Daughter, and I loved it even more. Well, guess what? The Iron Queen surpassed both books. Do you guys have any idea just how high my expectations were, yet they were exceeded? Damn it, there wasn't a single thing I hated about it- except that it had to come to an end!

To be more specific...

The plot. Ahh, I loved the plot. Meghan, Ash, and Puck must work together to defeat the False King- the one who pretends to be the new Iron King. They journey throughout the Iron Realm to find his identity and kill him, in order to save both Summer and Winter. The plot was filled with action, with one adventure after another, with heart wrenching romance, hilarious moments, painful goodbyes, and so much more. 

The ending. Gah, that ending! It was heartbreaking! It almost made me cry! And I never cry. Ever. Not once have I cried over a book, but the ending of The Iron Queen almost made me break down in tears! Ahhh, how could Kagawa have ended it like that? It was the ultimate sacrifice, the most painful ending I have ever read. 

The Rating

 6 stars, all the way. If I could, I've give it a bazillion stars, but hey, I'm guessing that would be a tad bit unrealistic. :P But seriously, I've never connected with a book as much as I did with The Iron Queen. I want to live in this book- I don't want this series to end! It has everything that I'm looking for, yet so much more than I expected. 

Ahhh, I want to go to Julie Kagawa, look her in the eye... And tackle her with a big hug. I want to thank her for creating such a wonderful world that I've experienced like none other. Seriously, how does she do this? Reduce me into a gushing fangirl, barely coherent?

The Iron Knight, here I come!

The Iron Fey #1- The Iron King by Julie Kagawa: Review

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

All the books I've read so far were utterly amazing- and the streak continues on with the Iron King.

A little history first. The Iron Fey has been around for ages- but I never picked them up. They were just sitting there, begging to be read. Then one day, I see the cover for the Iron Knight. And boy, was it hot. The a few weeks after, I discover that I won a copy! So, estatic little me began reading the series, hoping to finish by the time I get the book.

The Bad

.... Gosh, I can't find anything wrong with it! Why?!? I mean, look at my review of Divergent- I adored the book and gave it 6 stars, but I was able to scrounge up something that I didn't like about it! But for this book?!?

Yeah, I can't.

The Good

The charaters. I love Meghan. She's an amazing heroine. She isn't whiny or a complete wimp. No, she's determined, brave, and loyal to the end. I also adored Kagawa's other characters, Ash and Puck. Puck is the bestfriend I wish I had- he's caring but funny as hell. And Ash... Well, I'm Team Ash all the way. I just gotta love that ice prince! Kagawa developed her charaters perfectly, and I couldn't help but love them.

The Awesome

The world. Okay, you see guys, this is the reason why I love fantasy. Kagawa makes the most out of this genre and pumps the book full of fey goodness.

The only thing I regret? Not reading this book sooner.

The plot. It was fast paced, engrossing, and utterly captivating. I absolutely loved the adventure and how the story progressed. I loved how Meghan's loyalty for her brother leads her across the Nevernever, and the journey was one hell of a ride. And I absolutely loved the twist in the story, when they realize that they're up against something way bigger.

The ending. Oh gosh. As the story reached its end, I was in a daze. I couldn't finish the story fast enough, but at the same way, I didn't want this story to end. My emotions were in a mess in the last few chapters. I didn't know how to feel- I felt Meghan's pain and her despair, but I could sense her determination to defeat the Iron King and rescue her brother no matter what. And that part where those pack rats arrived and gave Meghan the wood? I wanted to hug them so tightly and squeeze the life out of them.

The Rating

5 out of 5 stars for me, no questions asked. The Iron Fey is now my favorite fairy series, and it takes this fairytale into a whole new level. It had eveything I'm looking for- action, adventure, romance, comedy, suspense, and even mystery! Nothing can match Kagawa's ingenuity and wild imagination.

Luckily, the entire series has already been released, and knowing me, I'm gonna devour the entire series as soon as I can!
